In the middle of an eastern whirlwind

I paint snippets of stories. They are deformed sometimes, blotted, scratched out, filled in, somewhat eerie yet familiar. They are no easy sight. But if I did well, they stick in your head.

Currently, I am in Beijing, China, absorbing the sights, atmospheres and sounds of a society that has gone into overdrive, and passed from the dark times of the nineteenth century into the twentyfirst all within a mere two decades. A world that is profoundly different yet moulding itself according to what they percieve from us as being ‘modern’

It is fast and fascinating, and a little scary. I will be here for three years at least, moulding this world into my work, contemplating and strengthening my images.

For those who wish to see my work:
